General medicine at the Department of Biology

The aim of the Biology course is to provide a current perspective on basic cellular processes at the level of a multicellular organism and to acquaint students with recent methods of cellular and molecular biology. The information obtained forms a necessary basis for further study of human medicine and subsequent clinical practice.

Each semester of study contains 15 lectures and 15 practical exercises or seminars. Attending the lectures is strongly recommended.

Practical classes

It is mandatory for students to wear a lab coat for all experimental tasks (work with various chemical substances, biological materials and dyes). Gloves (latex, vinyl or nitrile) will be provided by the department. Slippers must be worn to every lecture room. Substitution of practical class is possible after agreement with the lecturer in another group in the same week or in a substitute term at the end of the semester (substitution of 5 or more exercises only with the permission of the dean). Study control takes place continuously, oral and in written form, according to the programme schedule.
